Job Description
SOC Analysts are the first line of defense against cyber threats. They are responsible for identifying, analyzing, and responding to security incidents to safeguard the organization’s IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Stay updated with the latest malware trends and security threats.
- Provide technical assistance for remediation and mitigation efforts through detailed reports.
- Create comprehensive security assessment reports with root cause analysis and strategies.
- Monitor multiple ticket queues and prioritize incidents as per urgency.
- Track internal communication channels for queries from external teams.
- Perform 24/7 monitoring of alerts and raise incidents promptly.
- Assist senior analysts during incident investigations and response activities.
- Conduct initial triage of events following defined playbooks.
- Investigate security events from multiple data sources.
- Ensure closure of raised security incidents.
- Continuously enhance monitoring practices, review logs, and identify anomalies.
Required Skills for SOC Analyst
- Strong knowledge of operating systems such as Windows, OS X, and Linux.
- Hands-on experience in shell scripting (mandatory).
- Ability to create rules in security tools and use log-searching query languages.
- Knowledge of at least one programming language.
- Ability to independently handle common security incidents with proper escalation when required.
