Role and Responsibilities
As a Technical Support Intern at IBM, you will:
- Provide technical support for customer-reported issues related to IBM software.
- Troubleshoot and analyze problems, sometimes directly on client calls.
- Manage customer relationships and set the right expectations.
- Reproduce issues by setting up test environments.
- Create knowledge base articles for reported issues and their solutions.
- Escalate defects to IBM Development teams and coordinate fixes.
- Participate in production-down weekend support (rotation basis).

Required Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Required Technical and Professional Skills
- Proficiency in Core Java / JEE or any programming language.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet client needs.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts (including weekends).
- Quick learner with the ability to pick up on-premises and cloud product skills.
- Ability to research technical documentation and apply resources effectively.
- Strong time management and task prioritization skills.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Troubleshooting Java code, logs, and database queries (DB2, Oracle).
- Knowledge of JMS, IBM MQ, and messaging systems.
- Familiarity with containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (RedHat OpenShift, AWS).
- Understanding of JSON, XML formats.
- Hands-on with application servers like WebSphere Liberty, Tomcat.
- Database experience with Cassandra, MongoDB, DB2, Oracle using SQL queries.
- Basic understanding of networking protocols.
