Job Description

American Express is offering a 12-month paid apprenticeship within its Credit & Fraud Risk organization. The team uses data, analytics, technology, and risk management practices to identify and manage credit and fraud risks while supporting customer experiences and business growth.

As an Apprentice, you will gain exposure to multiple areas, including Data Stewardship, Strategy & Analytics, and Product. You will work with business and technical teams and gain practical experience in solving real-world business problems through data and technology.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Candidates must have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
  • Eligible educational backgrounds include Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, Finance, or related quantitative disciplines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for data, analytics, and risk management.
  • Curious mindset with a willingness to learn new concepts and technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ability to interpret data and generate meaningful insights.
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytical tools is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of automation tools and techniques such as RPA, ETL, or Machine Learning is preferred.
  • Understanding of data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of financial services, credit risk, fraud risk, or compliance concepts is an added advantage.

  • Support Credit & Fraud Risk teams with business and product-related initiatives.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support product improvements and business projects.
  • Participate in different stages of the product lifecycle, including discovery, testing, implementation, and performance monitoring.
  • Support analytical and reporting activities to identify business trends and patterns.
  • Work with data and visualization tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, Power BI, and Tableau.
  • Assist in generating meaningful insights from business data.
  • Gain exposure to data governance and data quality processes.
  • Support process improvement and automation initiatives.
  • Learn how data, technology, and business insights are used to solve real-world problems.
  • Collaborate with team members and experienced professionals across the organization.
