Job Description
The Junior Data Engineer will support day-to-day monitoring and basic troubleshooting of data engineering pipelines and applications. The selected candidates will work under the supervision of experienced engineers and assist with production support, data validation, incident management, and documentation.
The role provides exposure to data engineering operations and technologies used for monitoring, data processing, and production environments.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Monitor scheduled data pipeline runs, alerts, and data refresh activities.
- Perform first-level checks for failed jobs and incomplete data loads.
- Identify missing files, data mismatches, and pipeline alerts.
- Create and update incidents and service requests in ServiceNow.
- Run basic SQL queries and perform data validation.
- Support source-to-target data reconciliation.
- Collect logs and error details before escalating complex issues.
- Maintain runbooks, SOPs, checklists, and operational documentation.
- Support production monitoring and operational reporting.
- Work with senior engineers to resolve technical issues.
Qualifications & Skills
- Basic knowledge of SQL.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts.
- Knowledge of data validation and pipeline monitoring.
- Basic understanding of incident management.
- Familiarity with production support processes.
- Knowledge of ServiceNow ticket updates.
- Good documentation and communication skills.
