Job Role
The Junior Data Engineer role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data engineering and business intelligence solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Utilize skills in development areas including data warehousing, business intelligence, and databases (Snowflake, ANSI SQL, SQL Server, T-SQL)
- Support programming and software development using Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) and Extract, Load, and Transform (ELT) tools such as dbt, Azure Data Factory, and SSIS
- Design, develop, enhance, and support business intelligence systems primarily using Microsoft Power BI
- Interface directly with business systems analysts and end-users to gather, analyze, map, and document structured software parameters
- Participate actively in systematic software validation workflows, including creating, reviewing, and executing technical test plans
- Build software applications by adhering to the standard software development lifecycle, from design and testing through cloud release and operational patching
- Provide timely technical application support to internal teams, covering package installations, environment setup, and pipeline monitoring
Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or an allied technical field
- Internship experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering is preferred
- Based in or willing to work from Medpace’s Navi Mumbai office (fully office-based role)
Skills Required
- Knowledge of dimensional data modeling and awareness of the advantages and limitations of Star Schema versus Snowflake Schema designs
- Solid ETL development knowledge grounded in an understanding of business processes and measures
- Basic knowledge of Python programming and REST APIs
- Basic understanding of SQL Server databases
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Snowflake cloud data warehouse, Fivetran data integration, and dbt transformations
- Knowledge of C# and Azure development as an added advantage
