Key Responsibilities
- Support Sample Design, Universe Estimation, and other design-related projects for the Retail Index.
- Identify quality risks and follow up on solutions.

- Identify opportunities for innovation and tools development, and recommend process improvements.
Eligibility Criteria
A Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related field is mandatory (M.Sc Stats/Big Data Analyst candidates can apply). Candidates should have 0–1 years of work experience, competency in at least one programming language (Python or R), and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Prior work experience in FMCG, market research, or consumer research is preferable.
Required Skills
- Competency in Python or R programming.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Organizational skills for project management (time management, prioritization, deadlines).
- Good command of English; knowledge of statistical inference and survey-based research is a plus.
- Eagerness to continuously learn and adapt to changing technologies and tools.
Recommended Certifications & Skills to Stand Out
For data science and sampling/survey research roles in general, candidates often strengthen their applications with certifications in applied statistics or survey methodology, along with strong hands-on skills in Python or R for data mining and analysis. A course in sampling theory or market research analytics (available on Coursera or edX) can add credibility for this specific role. Building a small project involving survey data analysis or statistical estimation — even using open datasets — helps demonstrate the applied quantitative skills this role requires.
Salary & Benefits
NielsenIQ offers a flexible working environment, volunteer time off, access to LinkedIn Learning, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) as part of its benefits for this 6-month contract apprenticeship.
Career Growth Opportunities
Apprentices who perform well may be considered for extended contracts or full-time roles such as Data Science Associate or PDE Analyst within NIQ’s global Data Science and Business Intelligence organization.
