Roles and Responsibilities
As a Machine Learning Engineer I at Expedia Group, you will:
- Collaborate with a global team of ML Engineers, Data Scientists, and Analysts to build large-scale batch and real-time ML pipelines on the cloud.
- Develop prototypes and minimum viable products (MVPs) to support new technical solutions.
- Work across the end-to-end ML lifecycle including feature engineering, training, validation, and deployment.
- Integrate Generative AI solutions into existing enterprise applications.
- Design, code, and maintain scalable, high-performing, and reliable cloud-based services.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and flexibility.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Monitor and improve ML models and systems with a focus on service excellence.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 0–2 years of professional experience in software engineering or ML engineering.
- Strong coding skills in Python, Java, Scala, or Kotlin.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes (K8s).
- Proficiency in MS Excel and understanding of testing & monitoring tools.
- Experience in building scalable cloud applications.
- Ability to learn quickly, write clean code, and work effectively in collaborative environments.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
