About the Role
As a Junior Data Engineer, you will join a highly collaborative Information Technology team executing mission-critical data architecture projects. You’ll bridge the gap between raw data collection and strategic business intelligence, sharpening your hands-on mastery over modern cloud infrastructure stacks while supporting clinical development reporting analytics on a global scale. Medpace’s Data Engineering team is growing rapidly and is focused on building a data-driven culture across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
- Interface with business systems analysts and end-users to gather, analyze, and document structured software parameters.
- Participate in systematic software validation, creating and executing technical test plans and tracking scripts.
- Build software applications following the standard SDLC blueprint, from design and testing to cloud release and patching.
- Provide technical application support to internal teams, including package installations and pipeline monitoring.
- Support programming/software development using ETL and ELT tools such as dbt, Azure Data Factory, and SSIS.
- Design, develop, and support business intelligence systems primarily using Microsoft Power BI.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates with a completed Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or an allied technical field can apply. Internship experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering is preferred, along with knowledge of dimensional data modeling, Star Schema, and Snowflake Schema design, plus a solid understanding of ETL development and business reporting concepts.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of data warehousing, business intelligence, and databases (Snowflake, ANSI SQL, SQL Server, T-SQL).
- Familiarity with Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse, Fivetran data integration, and dbt transformations (highly preferred).
- Basic knowledge of Python programming and handling REST APIs.
- Basic understanding of SQL Server databases.
- Knowledge of C# and Azure development is an added advantage.
- Excellent analytical, written, verbal communication, and problem-solving skills.
